I was discussing teacher-videotape-locker-room with several Alumni and would like to discuss a couple writing assignment for U of D.

Theme: "Passive Victim"
Topics:
  • Topic 1: "Is Ignorance Bliss? Is Knowledge Divisive?"
  • Topic 2: "Ignorance is reckless, but is it morally reckless?"

Theme: "Is there a moral obligation to pursue intelligence?"
  • Topic 1: "Would a moral obligation for intelligence negate privacy preferences of Passive Victims?"

This case has introduced a new concept "Passive Victims".
  • A Passive Victim is someone that is unknowingly the victim of a crime (ie identity theft, data breach, plagiarism, or --as in this case-- being the subject of a pedophiles's private video collection)
  • An Active Victim is someone that is knowingly the victim of a crime (ie car theft, physical assault, )

Given the geographic disparities of stakeholders (Faculty, Alumni, Current Students, Family) I think this would be a fantastic forum on U of D's website. Since the bulk of U of D's stakeholders are pretty sharp, I think you would find yourself proud and amazed by the thoughtful insight that would be gleaned.

I think Fr. Kurtz would be a good topic to blog about because I believe that there are several "Not Wrong" ideas to share.
